A planetary alignment predicted for the winter solstice announces the end of the world. The twelve Zodiac Masters who protect Earth have grown too weak, and Noah and Maya, both twelve years old, are projected into a parallel world to awaken them before dawn of the solstice.

Guided by Chichi and Chibie, two capricious talking cats, the children must cross an extraordinary realm where each kingdom mirrors famous places on Earth, including the Great Wall of China, the Sphinx of Egypt, the Nazca desert, and Mount Rushmore, where the four stone oracles advise them.

Aided by centaurs and other legendary beings, and forced to confront minotaurs, orcs, and trolls allied with the renegades, the young heroes race against time to save the world before the last grains of sand fall from their hourglass.
